Corporate Improv Training and Team Building in Los Angeles
Business improv training for Los Angeles teams, hosted live on Zoom by Scott Topper, who trained at The Groundlings in Hollywood. Sixty minutes of games that get your team listening, laughing, and talking to each other.
Business improv training that feels like a game
Improv is a set of communication skills that happens to be fun to practice. Each game in the session works one of them, and nobody has to be funny or perform alone.
- Listening
Whoosh, Bang, Pow only works when everyone watches who is passing to them, instead of waiting for their own turn.
- Yes, and
Accepting what a teammate hands you and building on it, the core rule of improv and of a good meeting.
- Speaking up
The Vocal Warm-Up gets every person talking in the first few minutes, including the people who never unmute.
- Thinking on your feet
Fast rounds with no right answers train people to commit to an idea instead of overthinking it.
Improv training from a Hollywood-trained host
Los Angeles is where a lot of improv comedy comes from, and Scott learned it here, at The Groundlings in Hollywood. The same skills that keep an improv scene alive (listening closely, accepting ideas, reacting fast) are the ones that make a team work well together. This session puts those skills to work for people who have never set foot on a stage.
LA teams are also spread out. A team might have people in Santa Monica, Pasadena, and the Valley, plus colleagues in other cities, and nobody wants to cross the city at rush hour for a workshop. A live Zoom session brings everyone together without the drive, with weekday start times from 7am to 7pm Pacific.
- Groundlings-trained hostScott trained in Hollywood and has hosted live TV and radio for two decades. He keeps the session moving and makes it easy for everyone to join in.
- No cross-town driveYour Westside, Valley, and Downtown people join the same call from wherever they are.
- Nobody performs aloneMost games are played by the whole group at once, so nobody has to do a scene in front of their coworkers.

What teams say they took back to work
My company is in the tech industry so we tend to be very “left-brained,” however these improvisational exercises allowed us to utilize our right brain and be creative while listening and reacting to situations on the fly.
This was a great experience for a small corporate team event. We learned skills for adapting and collaboration that will carry into our daily work while still sharing some laughs.
This was so much fun! It was my first time attending an improv session and I had little knowledge of what to expect. But I learnt so much about my communication.
